PROJECT 2- MINI SEMINAR

Project 2 is a mini-seminar conducted by students. We were to produce a sharing session on issues pertaining building conservation among students and lecturer to identify the level of understanding and awareness of students on conservation. We had chosen Georgetown, Penang as our case study for its historical context combining three distinct and ancient cultures, indigenous and colonial architecture, shake for a few centuries - a good place to be conserved.

Issues discussed in the seminar is compiled in the presentation slide shown below.

PROJECT 3- PROPOSAL FOR ADAPTIVE REUSE

This project will require students to propose for potential new usage for building conservation. It will requires students to investigate and observe practices and approaches on architectural conservation in Malaysia. Students are to organize trips to several sites in order to explore, comprehend and form opinion which subsequently captured in a proposal statement and illustrated diagrams.

As for our chosen building, we've decided to approach on NO.44 King Street,Penang. It's an old shophouse located at the center of heritage site in Penang and was abandon for quite sometime until today after it's last tenant moved away. As both the building and surrounding site holds a strong culture and history background, it was very interesting and highly potential to propose a new usage for the building.
