Project 1 : Industrialised Building System
For this project, we are required to study about the application of IBS system in buildings in Malaysia. First, we are required to select or design an apartment building of 3-storeys with the application of IBS system mainly precast system into our building. Our building should be exceed 100 square meter.
At the end of this project, we would need to produce a scaled model of 1:30/1:40 of our apartment building which shows a part of section to showcase the details of the construction of IBS in our building. We also need to produce a video which recorded the process of our model construction and also the details of the connection of the IBS components, the video also need to include the IBS score and also Embodied Energy calculation.
Objectives of the project are as follow :
1. To develop student's understanding in different types of IBS construction method.
2. To apply appropriate IBS construction method in the production of a model for an apartment building.
3. To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of IBS construction process through model making.
4. To develop student's understanding in matters related to energy efficiency and ecological impact.
5. To foster good communication skills among group members through proper delegation of work and production of the video.
Project 2 : Construction Solution
This assignment is aligned with our studio 5 project which is a community library which required us to propose the construction method for our building. We are required to apply the right method into our building proposal in coordination with proper technical studies and development of our design. It also required the integration of more unique technical method into our building design proposal.
The objectives of the project are as follow:
1. To encourage analytical and critical study of the principals, practices and details of building technology in student's own design.
2. To encourage students to consider the construction aspects throughout the design process.
3. To adapt and implement the alternative construction system into student's design.
