ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 1
PROJECT 1 : REPRESENTING ME
The Ice breaking design project introduces basic understanding of the design processes and approaches in generating ideas, formulating conceptual narratives, developing design and translating it into form design.
Purpose of the project is for students to unravel their creative side and inner self through various mode of communication or art form. Student as designers will generate ideas from selfidentity through personal interests, preferences, attitude and personality. These ideas and qualities will later on applied to any three dimensional form (as an artwork or sculpture, mask & other means). Representation of self must only be interpreted in abstract form where in it requires rigorous design thinking and highest form of creatively representing yourself.

Learning Outcomes
Through this project, I actually got to know more about myself through other's perspective and also mine. Not only that but I got analyse the most significant personality that represents me and this made my creative thinking skills that I've learnt from foundation useful. Throughout the interim and tutorial sessions we've had, I've gain a thing or two about expanding my exploration in design field.

PROJECT 2 : LIFE CAPSULE
The main aim of Project 2 is to expand the interpretation of one self and heighten the awareness of students about the human body, interaction of space and body, and explores the role of reasoning and logic in shaping the form and space.
A group of 6 - 7 is formed to allow collaborating of ideas. The group will pick one of their members which will become the user of the capsule. The capsule will be made of cardboard. All design considerations will be based on the chosen group member’s body dimensions and the occupation that he/she will portray (ex; painter, artist, photographer, scientist, musician, writer, or itself as an architecture student and others). The user for our life capsule is Kayla and we've decided to make a reporter's capsule for her.

Creators of THE CARDPORTER : Natalie, Jason, Yang, Max, Kayla and Melissa.
Learning Outcomes

From designing the capsule to building it out from cardboard, I would say that this is a pretty interesting project indeed. The design of the capsule was designed by Natalie as she has much more architectural knwoledge than us and we definitely learnt a lot from her through her explanations of concepts to specific parts of building the capsule as making something out from cardboard without any adhesive used was really tough indeed.
Other than that, I would say that we've communicated well through this project by voicing out our own opinions about the design of the capsule itself and also the furnitecture part. During the process of making the capsule, we've faced some problems like supporting problems, angle mistakes and etc, but we've managed to work as a team and solved it together.
Project 3a will allow students to do most of the things they enjoy most doing, bonding with friends, travelling, storytelling and more importantly taking and uploading videos and pictures, focusing mainly on their chosen architecture. In a more serious note, this exercise serves as test on how well the groups can narrate and ‘story tell’ and whether students have learned and understand essential aspects of design. These aspects include familiarization of architectural terminologies and their abilities to use architectural language to share their understanding of the design (form & space) on the architecture they have chosen.
In a group of 6 ( I've remained the same group as the previous life capsule project ) , we've chosen "PUBLKA" as our site. Through texts, sketches and personal perception and experiences , describe and understanding building and spaces through elements and principles of design.
PROJECT 3A : STORY TELLING & NARRATIVE : 'MY BUILDING, MY ARCHITECTURE'
Learning Outcomes

I would say that this is the most non-stressful and fun project out of all projects. It may seem easy as our task was to choose a site, film it and edit it as though we're telling a story through it. But choosing a site itself was a tough one as we have to choose a site that was interesting and contain its own architectural values too. We've discussed together as a team and drop to the conclusion of taking PUBLIKA as our site because of its modern architecture and interesting space. We had fun filming it and thankful of Natalie to narrate us the interesting spaces in it. I've learnt not only editing skills but also interesting ways in story telling the building itself.
PROJECT 3B : HIDEOUT - USAIN BOLT.
Project 3 on the other hand incorporates both the creativity and its functionality; identity of user, comfortability of user and creativity in articulating the space. Students are required to design a space for you by attaching it to the walls/surfaces of an imagined ‘city’ on an empty abandoned lot in between two buildings. The space is to fit the specific needs of the user (as a hideout space for viewing, transitional space, space for dreaming, space showcasing hobbies or collections and so to speak a getaway space for the user who wants to be alone), space that best fits the personality, occupation and character of the person that the user you are designing for.
Through the lists of clients, I've selected Usain Bolt as my client. One of the reasons that I've chose him is because I'm insipred by his determination and fun atitude towards things.

Learning Outcomes

For our final project, which I felt that it was a pretty challenging and interesting at the same time, I've got to put into everything I've learnt from the past projects in semester one such as creative thinking, analysing the user's and narrating design concepts that fits not only the space but connecting the user himself. As for choosing a runner as my user, it was indeed a challenging task. Being an ex-runner myself, I had to analyse what a runner's need and also Usain Bolt's special personality and fulfilling his needs as a future retired runner. After having to change several designs before getting to the final one, I'm very thankful of Ms.Yan Yee guiding me throughout this project as having to build the model and presenting the boards and all individually was indeed a tiring task.
